Adele says 'bye, bye, bye' to 'N Sync's record

Adele says 'bye, bye, bye' to 'N Sync's record

Bye, bye, bye, 'N Sync.

Adele's latest album has definitively shattered the boy band's old sales record by moving more than 3 million copies in its first week, according to Billboard

The record statistics gatekeeper reports that the British singer's new album, "25", sold 3.38 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen Music. The brisk pace of '25's' sales blew past the prior record held by N*Sync, the 1990s band that was once fronted by now solo artist Justin Timberlake.

In 2000, N*Sync sold 2.4 million copies of "No Strings Attached". Now, Adele's "25" becomes first-ever release to sell three million copies in a week since Nielsen began keeping records in 1991.

"25" is Adele's third studio album, released on Nov. 20 by XL/Columbia Records.
