Long Beach, California's experimental garage-poppers Tijuana Panthers deliver an offbeat, artful black-and-white video for "Boardwalk," from their latest album, Semi-Sweet. It stars guitarist Chad Wachtel, who rides an old BMW motorcycle across the desert; he hallucinates the appearance of a circus tent, where he encounters a strong man, a tightrope walker and Siamese twins who toy with his heart.
"The video started out with a 6 a.m. coffee inspiration of creepy, Lynchian La Strada images in my head," the band's bassist Daniel Michicoff, who directed the clip, tells Rolling Stone. "Chad on his bike, me juggling dead birds, and [drummer] Phil [Shaeen] tightrope-walking. The song and video definitely captures the band's nice-guy angst."
Those looking to catch the band's circus act in a live setting will have several opportunities in the near future, beginning with a gig at Brooklyn's Knitting Factory tomorrow. A pair of California shows are also slated for the Constellation Room at the Observatory in Santa Ana on August 23rd and West Hollywood's Whisky A Go Go on September 13th.This article originally appeared on Rolling Stone: Band to Watch: Tijuana Panthers
