Bruno Mars' Screen Test

Director Sam Hayes didn't want to create a traditional behind-the-scenes video when he filmed photographer Theo Wenner's Bruno Mars Rolling Stone cover shoot, so he created a short silent film partially inspired by Andy Warhol's 1960s screen tests. "I thought that an interesting way to see Bruno Mars, who has made himself famous through singing his songs, would be in absolute silence," says Hayes, who shot on 16 mm and Super 8. "So that maybe one could gleam something that they had not seen in such a well-known performer."
