Deer Tick to Perform Nirvana's 'In Utero' as Deervana

When they aren't making indie-rock music under their own name, Deer Tick often moonlight as Deervana, playing entire concerts filled entirely with Nirvana covers. Now the tribute band has returned in grand fashion: on September 13th at Brooklyn Bowl in New York, the band will play Nirvana's swan-song In Utero in its entirety to honor the album's 20th anniversary.

"We have done entire sets of Nirvana songs before," frontman John McCauley told Rolling Stone last year. "That was a tribute, and we weren't trying to put our own spin on it. Nirvana is my favorite band."

Tickets for the Deervana show are currently on sale. Meanwhile, Deer Tick will release their fifth LP, Negativity, on September 24th. The album is being hyped as a return to form after the band's previous release, 2011's punk-tinged Divine Providence. "It's a very dark record," McCauley told Rolling Stone back in April. "There's nothing silly about it."
