Drake Has the Top Selling Digital Album of 2015

The official SoundScan report for the first three quarters of 2015 was released this week, and it actually shows a bit of hope for the industry as a whole. While album sales continued to fall, it's at a much slower rate than last year, with digital album sales down less than one percent from 2014. As expected, streaming numbers are way up once again, and almost doubled since last year with streams totaling over 230 billion through the first nine months of 2015.

As far as specific album sales, Drake's If You're Reading This It's Too Late is currently the top selling digital album of the year, while Taylor Swift's 1989 is the overall top selling project of the year with just over 2.4 million copies sold. Mark Ronson's "Uptown Funk" is far and away the most successful single of the year, with over 5 million units sold since its release. According to Billboard, major labels have maintained their standings from last year, but things could change for the better with albums possibly coming from Rihanna and Adele in the coming months.
