It has always been common knowledge that we are capable of making music out of just about anything that can create sound. Slovakian studio DevKid recently took that simple concept much further by creating Jamky—a wooden drum machine that is controlled by rocks.

The official website for this project describes Jamky as a “post-digital” drum machine. This new machine is pretty awesome, to say the least. Jamky can detect when a rock is placed on the drum machine, each area produces a specific sound different from the other spots on the surface. Moving the rocks around the drum machine allows users to create their own rhythms in a fun new way. Now that we’re officially making music with wood and rocks, it feels like we’ve finally come full circle.

As of right now, Jamky looks like it may be a one-of-a-kind. But in the meantime, watch the mesmerizing clip below.
