Today is World AIDS Day, and no one in the beauty industry has raised more money and awareness for HIV/AIDS than MAC. The cosmetics brand created the MAC AIDS Fund back in 1994, and have donated every cent from their Viva Glam lip products to help those affected around the world.
Over the years, MAC has partnered with 24 unique and provocative celebrities — like Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Lady Gaga, Cyndi Lauper, Ru Paul, Fergie, Mary J. Blige, Christina Aguilera, Pamela Anderson, and Eve, among others — to create signature lip shades and promote the cause. Today, in honor of World AIDS Day, MAC announced some incredible news: Their fund has raised $400 million though the sale of their Viva Glam lipsticks and glosses. This makes the Canadian-based company the largest corporate non-pharmaceutical donor in the fight against HIV/AIDS. On top of that, 19,000 global MAC makeup artists volunteer at HIV/AIDS organizations every year.
