Miley Cyrus to Host and Perform on 'Saturday Night Live'

What a year it's been for Miley Cyrus. From dropping the party-loving single "We Can't Stop" to stripping down in the video for "Wrecking Ball" to "twerking" at the VMAs, the former tween-pop star underwent a major image change in 2013. Now, another milestone: on October 5th, she'll serve as both host and musical guest on an episode of Saturday Night Live.

Guest Op-Ed: Was Miley Cyrus' VMA Performance a Parody?

The host choice seems fitting, at least from a ratings standpoint: Cyrus' infamous VMA performance caused a media buzz last month, spawning countless parodies and even a formal complaint from the Parents' Television Council. This is Cyrus' second stint as host, but her first time pulling double-duty as performer, too.

SNL will kick off its 39th season on September 28th; the premiere will feature host Tina Fey and musical guest Arcade Fire. The October 12th episode will be hosted by Bruce Willis with music from Katy Perry.

Meanwhile, the series' cast is still unclear. Longtime performers Bill Hader, Fred Armisen and Jason Sudeikis have all left, while head writer and "Weekend Update" host Seth Meyers will leave the show in December to replace Jimmy Fallon on Late Night.
