Newsted Channels Sixties Spies on 'Ampossible' - Song Premiere

Earlier this year, Newsted, the new project of former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted, treated metal fans to their aptly titled debut EP, Metal. On August 6th, they'll release their full-length follow-up, Heavy Metal Music, on Chophouse Records and Collective Sounds. Now you can take an exclusive first listen to the album cut "Ampossible," a chugging, charging track that features some scorching guitarwork from Jessie Farnsworth and Newsted's pummeling bass (with one particularly Lemmy-like breakdown).

Random Notes: Hottest Rock Pictures

"'Ampossible' was initially composed as a warm-up instrumental song in the Chophouse in January 2013," Newsted tells Rolling Stone. "It's a hyper-morphed take on the original TV theme song from the 1960s Mission: Impossible – a childhood favorite."
