Protest Prompts Chris Brown to Cancel Guyana Show

Rolling Stone

Chris Brown has canceled a stadium concert in Guyana amid local protests over his 2009 assault of then-girlfriend Rihanna, The Associated Press reports. Brown was set to headline the December 26th show, but women's rights groups and some lawmakers opposed the planned gig, saying that Brown would not be welcome in the country. Promoter Hits and Jams Entertainment confirmed Brown withdrew from the gig because of discomfort with the protests.

Brown has had some hiccups with his probation sentence stemming from his 2009 assault on Rihanna, but also sings a duet with her on the singer's latest album, Unapologetic.
