A year after the release of his "Write Me Back" album, R.Kelly returns with his racy 12th studio album, "Black Panties." The full-length, reminiscent of his debut album, "12 Play," is set to debut in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart this week.
In celebration of the album debut, R. Kelly sat down with Elliott Wilson for a Myspace-presented CRWN session. Kellz shared details on the creative process behind "Black Panties," his salacious lyricism and more. Check it out below, exclusively here on Billboard.
While lacing his own full-length, R. Kelly collaborated with Lady Gaga on her second "ARTPOP" single, 'Do What U Want." The two teamed up to perform the exhilarating hit at the American Music Awards and NBC's Saturday Night Live.
Kellz shared details of his musical chemistry with the pop star: "I got to keep it real. Before I met her I thought she was a sexy girl... she's really into her style, she's locked into her character and she don't give a damn about what anybody have to say about it. Then when I met her, I felt like I met my match. She's got balls. She don't give a damn. She writes her music, she produces some of her music and she comes up with her own concepts and I do the same thing. it was a perfect match. When we got on that video set, and the studio, it was perfect. It was a natural jelling."
