'Talent' winner builds Miss. home for grandparents

DIAMONDHEAD, Miss. (AP) — A Mississippi couple is moving into a new home thanks to their grandson, singer Michael Grimm, who promised to build them a house when he won "America's Got Talent" in 2010.

Grimm and his wife flew in from Las Vegas to help out by putting finishing touches on the house built for Thomas and Laurie Butters. They planned to stay until Tuesday.

The couple, who raised Grimm and his sister, lost their home when Hurricane Katrina hit the Mississippi coast in 2005.

It was widely publicized that Grimm won $1 million on the television talent competition, but the 33-year-old singer tells the Sun Herald (http://bit.ly/xLPV5l) he got just enough to build the house and pay for his wedding after the network got a cut and he paid taxes.
