White Stripes' 'Elephant' Vinyl Reissue Will Get Wide Release

After the White Stripes marked the 10th anniversary of their 2003 LP Elephant with a limited-edition Record Store Day vinyl reissue, Jack White's Third Man Records is giving the album a wider re-release on August 27th.

The New Immortals: The White Stripes

According to the Third Man website, the vinyl was "mastered direct from the original, analog source from the 2002 recordings at Toe Rag Studios," and it features two 180-gram LPs, a double gatefold, printed inner sleeves and an MP3 download card. The package is currently available for pre-order.

Although there's clearly high demand for the wider release, Third Man offered encouragement to fans on the fence: "This album is dedicated to the death of the sweetheart and is still as poignant today as when it was originally released in 2003," the label wrote online. "We draw a firm line here . . . you can't consider yourself a White Stripes fan without this record on your record shelf."
