The Best-Selling Singles of 2016

Justin Timberlake’s exuberant “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” is the year’s top-selling digital hit. For an artist who has been turning out hits for nearly two decades, going back to his days with *NSYNC, that’s a remarkable achievement. Alas, the song has sold just 2,438,000 copies. That’s the lowest sales tally for the year’s top-selling digital hit in a decade.

The Chainsmokers, twenty one pilots, and Drake each have two songs among the year’s top 15 best-selling digital hits. The Chainsmokers are represented with “Closer” (featuring Halsey) at No. 3 and “Don’t Let Me Down” (featuring Daya) at No. 8. twenty one pilots have “Stressed Out” at No. 6 and “Heathens” at No. 11. These are the first duos with two songs in the year’s top 15 since Macklemore & Ryan Lewis scored in 2013 with “Thrift Shop” (No. 2) and “Can’t Hold Us” (No. 8).

Drake is represented with “One Dance” (featuring WizKid and Kyla) at No. 5 and Rihanna’s “Work,” on which he is featured, at No. 9. Drake is on track to become the first hip-hop artist to have two of the year’s top 10 songs since Eminem scored in 2010 with “Love the Way You Lie” (featuring the ubiquitous Rihanna, No. 3) and “Not Afraid” (No. 7).

Here are the 15 best-selling songs of 2016, according to Nielsen Music.
