16 Rejected Movie Songs That Ended Up on the Cutting Room Floor

Bruce Springsteen gets rejected just like you and me. On his current book tour, he talked to BBC Radio about having a theme song he wrote for one of the Harry Potter films fail to make the cut. The track, "I'll Stand By You Always," was "a big ballad that was very uncharacteristic of something I'd sing myself," he said. "But it was something that I thought would have fit lovely; at some point I'd like to get it into a children's movie of some sort because it was a pretty lovely song."

He's far from alone in finding out that his rock 'n' roll credentials (and in his case, already being a Best Song Oscar winner) aren't always good enough to pass muster with Hollywood producers who have very strict parameters for what sounds they'll let pass across their screen while we find out who the associate and executive producers were. Fellow members of this soundtrack rejectee club include Paul McCartney, James Brown, Johnny Cash, and Frank Ocean. Here are some of the stars and songs the movies have said "no thanks" to.
