A second 8.0 quake struck near the Iran-Pakistan border Apr. 16, killing at least 13 people in neighboring Pakistan, and shook buildings as far away as India and the Gulf states. A previous 6.1 magnitude earthquake killed at least 37 and injured hundreds in southern Iran on April 9.
