The pop star, who died Feb. 11, was born in Newark and was raised in nearby East Orange. Mourners on Feb. 13 left flowers, balloons and candles for Houston at Newark's New Hope Baptist Church. A hearse under heavy police escort arrived that night at a funeral home officials said was handling the arrangements for Houston.
